# Widget settings

> Colour, position, launcher, wording, AI replies and branding — every setting on the Web Widget page, with a live preview of the real widget.

**Channels → Web → Web Widget** is how the widget looks and reads. It is separate from
[Channel Settings](/website/install), which is setup you do once, and from
[Behaviour](/website/behaviour), which is what the widget *does*.

Changes are saved with **Save changes**; **Discard** puts back what was there. Nothing is
live until you save.

## Look

| Setting           | Options                                                                                                         |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Accent colour** | Any colour, from the picker or as a hex value. Used on the launcher, the buttons and the visitor's own messages |
| **Position** | **Bottom right** or **Bottom left** |
| **Colour mode** | **Match the visitor's device**, **Always light**, **Always dark** |

## Launcher

The button that sits in the corner of every page on your site.

| Setting   | Options                                                                                                               |
| --------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Icon** | **Speech bubble**, **Message circle**, **Question mark**, **Sparkles** or **Phone** |
| **Fill** | **White, coloured icon** or **Accent, white icon** |
| **Shape** | **Round bubble**, or **Pill with a label** |
| **Label** | Shown beside the icon on a pill. Up to 24 characters — two or three words, because longer labels crowd a phone screen |

## Words

| Setting             | What it is                                                                                                                 |
| ------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Header title** | The name at the top of the chat. Up to 80 characters |
| **Header subtitle** | The line under it. Up to 160 characters |
| **Opening message** | Shown inside the chat before anyone types. Up to 500 characters. It does **not** create a conversation or reach your inbox |
| **Teaser bubble** | A short prompt beside the closed launcher. Up to 160 characters |
| **Appears after** | How many seconds before the teaser shows, from 0 to 600 |

<Tip>
  Set an honest expectation in the subtitle. "Usually replies in a few hours" beats "replies
  instantly" if you do not.
</Tip>

## Behaviour toggles

| Toggle                     | What it does                                                                                        |
| -------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **AI replies** | Lets your [AI agent](/ai-agents/overview) answer when no automation does, using your knowledge base |
| **Show "Powered by Watx"** | Removing the badge requires a paid plan |

Automations run on the website channel whether or not AI replies are on. The order is
automations first, then the agent on anything they did not handle — see
[Behaviour](/website/behaviour).

## The live preview

Beside the form is the **real widget in a real frame**, not a mock-up: the launcher and the
panel exactly as a visitor sees them, on your accent, with your wording.

<Note>
  The preview reads the **saved** settings, so it does not move while you are typing. When
  you have unsaved changes it says **Save to update**. Press **Save changes** and it
  refreshes.
</Note>

## What a visitor can do in the chat

Beyond typing, the widget supports:

* **Attachments** — images, video, audio, PDFs, plain text, CSV, Word, Excel and ZIP files,
  up to 20 MB each. Your team can send media back from the Inbox composer.
* **Buttons and list choices** as tappable controls rather than a numbered list to reply
  to.
* **Forms** shown inside the chat, including the pre-chat and offline forms.
* Full-screen layout on a phone, and a panel beside the launcher on a desktop.

See [Sending messages](/inbox/sending) for what your side of the conversation can do.
